Future Plans & What's to Come

I started getting back into some of my past projects and started building my plans for a fully immersive website.

I would like to have all of my work, 3D or not, laid out in an immersive but navigable VR format, whether you're viewing from a browser or have a headset on.  Content can be selected based on category and the space can quite literally be "stepped into".

What this requires though is a massive undertaking as I transfer my workflow from traditional rendering formats into a near-video game style system.  I will have to re-render most of my content as I drop it into the Unreal Engine, which includes my thesis (which did need updating), as well as other projects from the past. Any work I did at Voyage will be less work for addition but will require "hella" tweaking to correctly add to the site. The same goes for previous UE4 material.

This all comes from some rigorous testing I've been doing since the newest update to UE4 was released which now allows for HTML integration.  Add in an immersive VR experience and I think my site will garner the necessary attention as well as show off some of my skills outside of traditional 3D modeling and the like.

The next step, which I'm currently on, is assembling all my content and organizing it for your viewing pleasure.  Today I opened up my senior thesis and actually dove into it for the first time in two years.  While there is lots to fix and bring up to speed for 2017, I sort of left a road map on my hard drive on how to assemble and upgrade assets in the scene.  The biggest issue I'm going to face for this project is actual organization, so all the files can be properly indexed for web viewing.

I realize I'm a bit scatterbrained at this moment, but there really is so much to cover.  This won't be done overnight, hell, it probably will take a year's time when it's all said an done.  While I have lots of time right now, once I start working again, I can see this project taking to the back burner (but hopefully not for too long).  Nevertheless, if I can pull this off, hopefully one year from now, this site will be very different.  Stay tuned.
